I mean the criteria used to decide which entries gets listed under either companies or individuals.
In my experience the current content can be confusing for some readers, partly maybe due to cultural and/or regional differences. For example, I was recently asked why my entry is listed under individuals instead of companies when I do offer commercial services.
Therefore I decided to bring the topic here to explore if and how we may improve the page for future readers and editors.
First, my guess is that the only difference between the two lists is whether a given provider employs multiple people or not. But maybe others guess the difference is whether a given provider is represented by a separate legal body or as a natural person. Whatever is the actual case, it would be nice to explicitly mention it somewhere on the page. The intro and/or right under the section headings feel like a good place for this.
Second, the columns for both categories may even be considered practically identical. That leads to the question whether a distinction should be made in the first place for the purposes of this page or not. If the distinction is deemed unnecessary, then there is a chance to:
- merge the two lists into a single one (thus eliminating the need to explain any differences)
- simplify some of the surrounding text (like replacing "people and companies" and "consultant or company" by "providers" or similar)
