Metastructure poll
The current Gentoo metastructure results from a poll on a reform in 2005. The proposals up for vote were announced on 2005-06-08 in a message to the gentoo-dev mailing list:
- The “FOSDEM” proposal
- Koon’s “Alternative” proposal
- G2boojum’s “Oldschool-small” proposal
with a small council (7-13 members) - G2boojum’s “Oldschool-large” proposal
with a large council (such as 0.1*Ndevs + (Ndevs+1)%2 members) - Ciaranm’s “Oldschool-small-with-slacker-boot”
with a small council (7-13 members) - Ciaranm’s “Oldschool-large-with-slacker-boot”
with a large council (such as 0.1*Ndevs + (Ndevs+1)%2 members) - Keep the current system (“Keep-current”)
- Reopen nominations (“Reopen-nominations”)
- Form a task force for additional study (“Task-force”)
Results
The final ranked list of the poll was posted to gentoo-dev and gentoo-core on 2005-06-14:

The winning proposal was published as GLEP 39. Subsequently, a council was elected and its first meeting took place on 2005-09-15.
