Printers where driverless doesn't work

How will CUPS work with printers that support IPP, but the driverless command errors out on some missing sub function? My Brother HL-2280DW is connected on the network, but "driverless" fails to connect to it (some missing security support). I am not going to buy a new printer for as it works fine with Gutenprint now. Maybe I'm missing something but this direction is not viable if it does not support working printers. --Grknight (talk) 15:29, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
- My experience with driverless is from a system without dbus and without avahi:
user $
driverless
ERROR: Unable to execute ippfind utility: No such file or directory
- Did you receive any output from running the following command with your printer's IP number instead?
root #
lpadmin -p foobar -E -v ipp://192.168.178.23/ipp -m everywhere
