Move to main namespace?
Talk status
This discussion is done as of 2022-06-18.
This article seems to have sufficient content and quality to be in the main namespace. Would you consider moving it there so that others may contribute and that it can be categorized ? Thanks -- Ris (talk) 13:55, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- That is not a bad idea. However, this page is outdated. It still reflects the changes necessary for working with the package in my own overlay. The package in ::gentoo however behaves differently (i.e. it provides its own kernel module). So we can move it to the main namespace after it has been updated to match the requirements for the package in ::gentoo. -- nex 21:19, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for the info ! In the mean time do you mind if I remove the "software" category, so that it doesn't list on the main software page ? (I'm going through the categories, seeing what can be moved in or out.)
- If you wouldn't mind contributions on this article, may I suggest adding the template User:Ris/Template:Userspace collaboration (User:Ris/wip/User_pages_accepting_contributions), or just saying as much at the top of the article ?
- I've done both things. Good to know I can actually encourage edits from other people. Regarding the category assignment: I've commented that one out so it we don't forget it if we decide this page is ready to be moved to the main namespace. -- Nex 20:20, 04 Jun 2022 (UTC)
- I have updated the page removing all the link to my overlay and the requirement for support v4l2loopback in the Kernel (the package brings its own Kernel module and I didn't see v4l2loopback as a requirement in the ebuild). I've also added the notice that this builds a custom Kernel module which must be loaded for Droidcam to work. I think this should be everything required for the page to be ready to be moved to the main namespace, but I'd rather have a second user look at this in case I missed something. Otherwise, feel free to move. -- Nex 20:32, 04 Jun 2022 (UTC)
- The page is now in the main namespace and the user-namespace-specific artifacts have been removed -- Nex 12:19, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
