Is etc-update really "largely unmaintained"?
The text I copied from the handbook to this page says etc-update is "largely unmaintained".
etc-update ships as part of Portage. My train of thought is that if it's still there, is it not kept for a reason ? and if it's kept for a reason, does it not get maintained, being part of Portage ?
I'm curious if anyone has any insight into it's status. If it really is unmaintained, depending on if it still has any uses or not, maybe we could use the "archive" template on this page and forget about it.
I have a feeling that it still being around might be an indication that it still has some use, somewhere. If it does, it would be great to be able to document that on this page, even if it is a niche use which would let us advise to only use it for that.
