If you have time to extend this article with an optional configuration that allows the storage of the key to be placed in a non-encrypted USB drive rather than inside the initrd, or perhaps putting the entire initrd and kernel on a usb drive, then I would be grateful. I've been wanting to build a fully-encrypted system for some time but I'm not comfortable with leaving the key to the computer inside it. I'd much prefer to store the key in a removable media so that I can easily make backups and so that I can feel safe with the data being secure when I power down the machine and take the "key" to it with me as I leave.
