slimlock
maybe it's good to add info about slimlock
root #
emerge --ask x11-misc/slimlock
--Emc 09:10, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
x11-misc/slimlock has been removed from the Portage tree on March 10th, 2014. I added a note in the article saying that you can still install the slimlock command if you build slim with the pam USE flag. Fturco (talk) 15:19, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
Console-kit
I have had many problems getting slim to run awesome (via .xinitrc) and finally got it working after figuring that I needed to add consolekit to the default init.d. Maybe that needs to be added to the guide? (all it did before was to give me X with no wm)

- Look like someone added this to the troubleshooting section of the article already. With that being said, there is no reason to discuss a change such as this; just make the edit. Kind regards, --Maffblaster (talk) 23:33, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
non-awesome .xinitrc
there should be a section for .xinitrc users of startx & notes to comment / uncomment these.
- login_cmd exec /bin/sh - ~/.xinitrc %session
login_cmd exec /bin/bash -login ~/.xinitrc %session
- login_cmd exec /bin/bash -login /usr/share/slim/Xsession %session
ill throw in a systemd start service... to this systemctl enable slim.service
