90-synaptics seems odd and out of place to me
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf & this forum post seems more accurate to me http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-864391-start-0.html

KDE also offers kde-misc/kcm_touchpad to control touchpad settings in the System Settings.

-m parameter gone for synclient
Talk status
This discussion is still ongoing as of 2024-11-19.
Usage: synclient [-h] [-l] [-V] [-?] [var1=value1 [var2=value2] ...] -l List current user settings -V Print synclient version string and exit -? Show this help message var=value Set user parameter 'var' to 'value'.
Looks like the -m parameter is no longer and should be removed from the Wiki's examples of using synclient.
