Why don't you simply use http://packages.gentoo.org/package/sys-apps/etckeeper ?--Mrueg (talk) 04:28, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- see Talk:Git its a functional example of revision selection, local only git usage, reverting errors in commits, and a functional example of tracking /etc. why don't you document etckeeper? i did this for my future job & ruby on rails as they are looking for a ruby dev, ive seen several videos on git, but none of them cover the subject of reverting errors in a working tree. 666threesixes666 (talk) 05:09, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
