Merge with EFI stub article

Can we merge this article with EFI stub, because they are about the same thing. Astaecker (talk) 08:08, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

ESI?

The article states "mkpart ESI fat32 0% 500m" as the command for the first partition. I think this should be EFI. Gentoocist (talk) 09:24, 9 October 2013 (UTC) OK, after messing up by using EFI and having read ESI in other places, perhaps an alternative would be to make people aware that ESI is NOT a typo, Gentoocist (talk) 18:12, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

That might be alleviated somewhat by replacing the parted command list with a gdisk command list (and it will be more in line with the fdisk examples that are in the handbook, anyway). No confusion about "ESI", then, just set type to EF. Petteyg (talk) 15:52, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

I think this is out of date. According to the gentoo wiki, [[1]], the GPT is made by using this command mklabel gpt and mkpart primary fat32 0% 500m. (All partitions for GPT need to be primary) --NuclearPeon (talk) 21:16, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

module efivars not found

On a current livecd minimal (amd64), entering modprobe efivars fails with "No such device". I can enter modprobe efivarfs and that works, plus modprobe -c | grep efi shows that efivars is referenced, but the command in the wiki fails for me verbatim. (This is the livecd, not the chroot)

According to the 3.14.5 linux kernel, CONFIG_EFIVAR_FS (efivarfs) is a replacement for the old EFI variable support via sysfs. (Apparently the older one suffers from 1024 byte variable size limits). --NuclearPeon (talk) 21:18, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
