emerge without --oneshot

IMHO, emerge dependencies without --oneshot option isn’t good approach. Maybe, better create ebuild with these dependencies and install it.

yocto requires gcc-multilib

I've had a look at prerequisites for a successful yocto-build. As mentioned in "Using Yocto Project with Beaglebone Black" a gcc with an enabled multilib is required. Since I'm running a very old installation of gentoo which was regularly updated, i am still stuck with a non-multilib profile. In the actual profile the multilib use-flag was disabled. Since it seems to be difficult to switch from non-multilib to multilib gcc/profile, you should start with a fresh install using a multilib profile. I'm running a beaglebone-build on a newer mulitlib-profile-installation and this one seems to compile fine. I've just followed the steps mentioned in the YOCTO-wiki on the multilib-profile-machine. To be honest, I'm a newbie and a noob, thus any confirmation or the opposite is quite welcome.
