Template talk:Keyword
From Gentoo Wiki
I realize this template might be still under development, so now is a good time to discuss. It might be wise to consider making the colors or style of this template different than the colors and style of the <code> tag. To the reader there is way to visually differentiate a keyword from <code>.
Is this intended? If it is intended wouldn't be simpler to use the <code> instead of creating a new template? --Maffblaster (talk) 18:04, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- This is indeed just a beginning. It's better to have a template, so all keyword mentions can be formatted (including possible linking to relevant pages) the same way across the wiki. If it is decided that the formatting should change, obviously you'd just change the template instead of searching for all keyword instances and changing each individually. I think it makes sense to use some kind of distinctive formatting for keywords, given their special meaning. You can go ahead and format it whatever way seems best. I just chose <code> because it was easy. We can use bold text or green text, or whatever (or simply link the terms to relevant descriptions/FAQs). I've just mentioned this at Gentoo Wiki:Suggestions#Formatting of keywords so other interested parties can comment (here). dcljr (talk) 00:23, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
