This guide details the installation process of installing Logos Bible Study software on Linux using Wine (wine-vanilla).

Installation

Prerequisites

Samba support is needed or the following error will be seen during the installation process:

0043:err:winediag:SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated. Make sure that ntlm_auth >= 3.0.25 is in your path. Usually, you can find it in the winbind package of your distribution.

Add wine-vanilla and samba (with winbind support) to the system's package.use file:

FILE /etc/portage/package.use

app-emulation/wine-vanilla samba
net-fs/samba winbind

Download official installer

Logos only releases the installer package to customers who have purchased a license. Generally this will show up in the customer's Orders. Download the installer from the Logos website, browse to the location, then open it with using wine:

user $wine ~/Downloads/LogosSetup.exe

The installer will connect to the internet and download the rest of the Bible study software.
