Things that needs rewriting, review, source, etc:
Strikethrough lines are reported for later, too soon !
- Reshape to respect the guidelines, how things are said, etc.
- Grammar and such
- Add a link of a video where I type on bépo keyboard layout, on KTouch for example, showing an example of usage (I might already have some videos like this, on my hard drive)
- Fix incorrect syntax I used for this code: {InfoBox wikipedia} which redirect on a non-existing wikipedia's page
- Once all points above are OK, push it to the wiki
- Once all points above are OK, add a french translation
- Once all points above are OK, re-add a more factual history about keyboard mapping
- Once all points above are OK, explain why bépo is such a great keyboard layout.
Adding information and strong source to some statement about MSDs and CTS (Musculoskeletal disorder and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome)Review history about the old keymapping used on typing machine, why it has changed (stucks mechanical pieces) and why azerty/qwerty stays popular while not fitting a computer's keyboard capability

Note: Difference between loadkeys & setxkbmap
So far as I understand, setxkbmap is only for X, but I do not find an alternative that seems to suits Wayland, I have to find more information on it.
Also, in my experience, loadkeys does not behave the same way as setxkbmap. The first doesn't needs root privileges while the seconds needs it.
It's more a side note for me than anything else, but if you have the answer… Will have to take a deeper look on the Gentoo's wiki and research it on Internet / man page, etc.

Fact check
Contrary to popular belief, the QWERTY layout was not designed to slow the typist down,[1]:162 but rather to speed up typing. Indeed, there is evidence that, aside from the issue of jamming, placing often-used keys farther apart increases typing speed, because it encourages alternation between the hands.[2] (On the other hand, in the German keyboard the Z has been moved between the T and the U to help type the frequent digraphs TZ and ZU in that language.) Almost every word in the English language contains at least one vowel letter, but on the QWERTY keyboard only the vowel letter A is on the home row, which requires the typist's fingers to leave the home row for most words.

- Thanks for your reply with what seems to be very interesting sources, I started the reading of the japanese paper. You also make me realize that I tried to run before walking, that is my first page and I should be way more targeting straight to the point, instead of being a wannabe internet historian :). Thanks again.
- So, I'll (for now) remove all that historical stuff and things about «how much is better bépo», stay technical and factual.
- Once my page will reach a more mature state, and possibly being in the wiki, I'll go deeper into the historical view (since it is interesting to switch to bépo) and knowing why you would do that.
- Feel free to add suggestion and more precious link as these.

- PS: This is my first talking in MediaWiki, I try to follow rules and so on.
- Here's a suggestion: Instead of explaining how great bépo is, you can explain what its goals are. For example:
- Proposed changes - Please make edits here until a final revision is agreed upon.
Bépo's aim is to minimize the risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders while typing. It tries to do so by reordering keys based on their statistical probability of being pressed, so users spend less effort on typing on average.
- Don't be afraid to make claims like that last part ("so users spend less effort on typing on average"). Just try to limit it to claims that are easily verifiable or obviously true.
- Thanks for your work :) — Waldo Lemmer 11:23, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- I could indeed think it is obvious, but for me this line between obvious fact and unchecked fact is sometime very tight, plus it add extras works for unchecked facts… I try to force myself to be 100% precise, which is not my cup of tea. For now I'll stick to the technical point of view as most as possible. That is also why I did not removed them completely: That might become useful and needed in the next steps.
- But at the same time, it's true that it aims to minimize physical injuries (as I had in the past), but is it really true ? It is not a believe more than a true, verified fact ? That is a very interesting question that I'll go deeper in it. I claim to peoples bépo is better for decrease physical injuries, but I might be fooled like a lot of peoples.
- In the end, it's a really neat keyboard layout that seems decreasing physical efforts, but I can be a fool :).
- Cheers & thanks, Kévin GASPARD DE RENEFORT (talk) 09:47, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
