Installing GRUB2 from within a chroot
In this edit (the results of which are now at GRUB/Troubleshooting#Installing GRUB2 from within a chroot), you say (underlining added by me):
- "…be sure to mount the target root partition before chrooting, but do not the /boot partition until after chrooting to the new environment."
What exactly were you trying to warn users not to do until after chrooting? - dcljr (talk) 13:45, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
- This isn't my edit, but a move of an older edit. See this overview. I can imagine that the /boot mount is best done inside the chroot to have the registrations in the mounts file and such done correctly. --SwifT (talk) 13:42, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
- Oh, so "do not mount the /boot partition"? The word mount was missing. - dcljr (talk) 07:42, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
Lowercase title and translation
hi. translation plugin allow to edit TITLE directly and {{Lowercase title}} is not required in translated version. we can place {{Lowercase title}} after <translate> tag and drop it when translate.
so what in English version. for example Sudo article:
<languages /> <translate> <!--T:1--> {{Lowercase title}} blabla ....
What do translator:
- translate "Sudo" as "sudo" < this is TITLE
- and translate "{{Lowercase title}} blabla" as "blabla"
--Cronolio (talk) 18:13, 16 January 2017 (UTC)
- I'm okay with this, when needed. But what is the impact if {{Lowercase title}} is above the translate tag? --SwifT (talk) 14:22, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
French translation group
We wish to form a translation group for the french translation (cf. my talk page) ! Could you create an account named "Babylone"? It would be nice if the translators do not have rights to the account to keep it impersonal.--Feng (talk) 17:53, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
- I don't have any rights to create groups or any other specific stuff on the wiki. I'm not sure if there is a need for it as well, but you might want to discuss your requests on the Gentoo_Wiki:Feedback page. --SwifT (talk) 13:56, 1 March 2017 (UTC)
- Currently, the collaborative work around translation is uncertain: we must find methods, references, and ideas to facilitate translation and cooperation between translators. I will watch how wikepedia (wikimedia) manages their translation and organization. I think I will find useful information! --Feng (talk) 07:56, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
Please, enable translation for this articles
Kernel/Rebuild — many translated articles is linked on this page;
/etc/portage/make.conf — heart of gentoo. will be usefull for new users;
CPU_FLAGS_X86 — also usefull for new users.

Distcc
Thanks for adding the warning about downloading and executing scripts. What would you suggest as a cleaner mechanism? The patch to make this script possible was mostly written for us! :) Maybe add the script to the distcc ebuild? It can still be improved to discover which isa flags are implied by another and maybe somebody else will find a cleaner way to do the processing (maybe in all perl, which I don't know that well). - Hi Daniel Santos, if we can add the script to the ebuild (under the files/ subdirectory in the repository for instance) that would be the preferred method. --SwifT (talk) 11:47, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hello and thanks for the response. I'll add this to my TODO list. I don't believe any version of GCC that this will actually work with has been released yet. Daniel Santos (talk) 17:57, 24 November 2017 (UTC)
