iwlwifi brings its own rate control algorithm iwl-agn-rs, see Iwlwifi#dmesg, so the there should be no need for Minstrel. But I don't have the 8265/8275 device and cannot check.--Charles17 (talk) 08:23, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for your remark. I've played with my kernel configuration and there seems no way to disable Minstrel. It seems
MAC80211_RC_MINSTREL
remains enabled even when disabling together withMAC80211_HAS_RC
in the .config file. Indeed, it seems like there's no need for it. My dmesg output says the used rate control algorithm is: iwl-mvm-rs. I have updated the HP_Zbook_Studio_G4#WiFi section according to Linux version 5.4.80-gentoo-r1 and left out the Minstrel selection boxes, as is the case in this version. --Whalehunter (talk) 17:21, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
