WMR support in Monado
Changed wmr headsets as monado is working for them and added link to monado gitlab. - MandleRex
- I don't own a WMR headset personally, but judging by all comments and footage I could find, WMR support in Monado seems to be VERY rough, so maybe WMR support should be marked as experimental. Also, please consider reading the Talk pages help to learn about using talk pages correctly. :) I updated this page accordingly - UFeindschiff (talk) 00:01, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
"Software" section misleading
The software section is kinda misleading and also partially redundant. It's implementations of VR standards or helpers of getting certain hardware to work. In my opinion this would belong more in a "VR hardware setup" section where there's a detailed description of how to set up certain VR hardware (with an added link in the compatibility matrix linking to the appropriate section) where you can also go into detail into either setting up Monado from scratch or using things like envision (which btw doesn't play nice with most Gentoo configurations as it assumes some GTK4 libraries being built with support for a few things which they aren't unless you enable these USE flags, so you should go into detail there as well). A "Software" section should in my opinion contain user applications with information about potential quirks and workarounds with certain applications. UFeindschiff (talk) 00:13, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- Agreed. I put software more or less as a place holder as I know it's not the right term, but needed something to go there, and I couldn't figure out what. Driver's didn't seem appropriate. I am planning on doing a detailed how to for envision soon. Figured out the last piece of the puzzle last night. Gonna skip setting up monado from scratch tho as envision is much easier, and it does all the work for you, and afaik, it works for wivrn as well. I will change to vr hardware setup, and put the instructions for envision there, and as far as monado and the rest go, maybe I get around to it? It's a bit of a pita to setup without envision on other distros, so probably not. As for a software section, all I can really think of to put in that, atm, is how to setup steamvr to work with monado. So, I'll make that change when i add the howto for envision. It'll be updated over the next few days. Thanks again! Side note, you removed the line about monado supporting most devices that openhmd used to support. What would you recommend I write instead? I am aware there are issues. And there are issues I am unaware of I'm sure. Please let me know and I will make corrections. I was also looking for some sort of source coding guide, but either I don't know what I'm searching for, or it doesn't exist. My guess is the former. Would rather use the visual editor anyway, but am getting the parsoid bug. Otherwise, I'll spend some more time tomorrow looking at other pages code and educate myself more that way. I was also thinking that maybe what I just did should be a seperate page??MandleRex (talk) 04:25, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
