Portuguese translation

Heya,

thanks for your interest in translating to Portuguese. You specifically put Brazilian Portuguese as your target language. My question is, is it really that different from the written Portuguese in Portugal and other Portuguese-speaking countries? If it is not, then we should use the generic 'pt', not 'pt-br' as the language for translated pages. Wikipedia seems to only have a pt.wikipedia.org, no other regional dialects, I'm guessing we should do the same here?

There are some differences such as file "arquivo" in European Portuguese they write "ficheiro". That's why we have codes LANG pt_BR and pt in linux, but anyone who knows the language can understand both, despite the discomfort of some words like the one above are different. I see a predominance of Brazilian Portuguese in wikipedia, I do not know if due to higher contribution from the Brazilian community. Hence it is at your discretion, only a translation or separation of dialects.
